About The Hangout

“You’re bonkers, it’s in an industrial estate which isn’t even really in Llandeilo” is the feedback we recived when we told our fam-a-lam that we were to open our very own brunch spot in an empty warehouse, in Beechwood Industrial Estate.

Four years, the awarded title of ‘best cafe in wales’ and a global pandemic later – We are still standing!

It was in July 2016 that we first flung open the doors to The Hangout and since that day and every day since we have been serving up good vibes, epic feeds, one of a kind events and banging coffee. We make, bake, cook and create in house using the best locally sourced ingredients we can find all inspired by our worldwide travels together. Since Covid came along we’ve had to shake things up a little! The warehouse has been converted into a quirky Brunch- garden for you to sit in and enjoy. While what was the cafe has now been transformed into a rad lifestyle shop!
Stocking homeware and epic gifts all curated by indie uk artists. You can subscribe to monthly deliveries of The Hangouts very own 100% arabica blend coffee whilst ordering our infamous cakes and bakes for takeaway or scoop up brownie points by pre-ordering postal delivery to a loved one!

About Us

Our journey began 29th June 2013; in the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne Australia. The Stadium holds 53,359 people and fate was kind enough to plonk us on seats right next to each other as we watched The Lions play.
The road to the hangout had many twists and turns including; 13 countries, 32 cities and countless coffee dates. The Hangout Llandeilo was then opened on 1st July 2016.

The days between those two very important dates we spent exploring the world, navigated mainly by our love of food and coffee.
Whilst in the southern hemisphere it was all about brunch on the back lanes, searching out the quirkiest Andetopian coffee shops we could find.
In Asia it was all about the street (and floating!) food Markets, the tastes, the smells. On the fijian islands we discovered the pacific Lovo, how to cook using fire and an under earth oven! Exploring the world one mouthful at a time were the best 1098 days of our lives to date.

The realisation that our passion of sipping on coffee cups, hanging out in cafes & cultivating culinary creations could develop into a career hit whilst we were walking around a coffee plantation in Ubud, Bali. From the hand roasting to the cupping process, it was all just so intriguing and from that moment on we were hooked. The Dream of owning our very own cafe was realised and it was time to turn that dream into a reality here in the very town Lee was raised and went to school, Llandeio in the heart of West Wales.
